YOU In A Likely Story!
Have you ever wanted to be a fictionalized character in a story? How about one created by YOU? Random House is giving you the opportunity to be a fictional character in a future published book in the David Van Etten's Likely Story series! How neat is that? After you've had a chance to read a scene from Likely Story you can be well on your way to writing the ending of an episode and landing yourself a spot in one of the Likely Story series! Henna Tattoo Workshop Postponed
The Henna Tattoo workshop on June 21st, at 1pm will be postponed until further notice. Sorry about this inconvenience. For more information contact the library. However, we do want you all to keep stopping in all through the summer because will will continue to try and provide wonderful programs.
For example: On Mondays from 12:30 to 2:00 -Anime Club will meet
Tuesdays at 2:00 -video gaming in the Rotary Room

Congratulations to Laurie Halse Anderson!
The ALAN Award Committee has voted to honor
Laurie Halse Anderson
with the 2008 ALAN Award. Anderson, author of several YA novels including Speak, Twisted, and the up-coming Chains, is a tireless advocate for teens and their books. Her novels have been a National Book Award Finalist, a Michael L. Printz Honor book, a New York Times bestseller, and an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults. The ALAN award honors those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of adolescent literature.

Book Trailer Contest
Laurie Halse Anderson is sponsoring a book trailer contest for teen readers. It is aimed at members of summer reading groups based in libraries, but is open to anyone under age 21. Participants can enter a trailer for SPEAK or TWISTED from now until August 31st, 2008. First prize is an 8GB iPod Touch. This Isn't your Grandpa's Summer Reading Club!
So, what is the number one question on every bodies mind? Is it, how many days are left of school? No. Is it, what day does summer officially start? Nope. The question is , HOW DO I JOIN TEEN SUMMER READING?!? Well for those of you in the know, you know you would have to come visit the Teen Area in the library. Once you were here all you would have to do is fill out a registration slip. After that, just write down every five books, magazines, and graphic novels you read and turn them in, and BAM! you get a prize. And that's it clean and simple. Oh and stop in fast cause as with metamorphosis, the prizes are changing quite fast!

Story Strands & Literary Lunches
While Literary Lunches at the middle school will continue throughout next week as we race to finish the 2nd book in the Ranger's Apprentice series and Sherlock Holmes stories, alas, the last high school Story Strand of this school year will be Wednesday, June 4. Join us for plans for continuing throughout the summer (for those who are interested) and what's new for next year.
